Where I Still Read

The lovely end!

The word I would use to describe this book is touching. For me, it’s not the best book in the series, but it has everything needed to be a great ending and an incredible read.

From page one, you feel that urgency to know what happens next. You are finally here, at the point where everything comes to an end, where all the answers are waiting. How are they going to survive?
But I have to be honest. There were some parts, or let’s say some choices in the way the story was delivered, that I didn’t completely love. I felt that two sections were unnecessarily long: Aelin’s captivity and the battle in the North. I understand that, as readers, we need guidance to feel what the characters are feeling and to fully understand what’s happening. But at some point, it felt like enough. After seven books, we already understand these characters and the stakes. Maybe making me feel that exhaustion and desperation was exactly the point, and if so, it worked.

And as it happened to me before, I just don’t like Aedion! I know he’s important to the story, especially during that battle. Everything feels so hopeless, and he’s there doing his duty, fighting without rest. But I don’t know… I always feel like he’s unfair to everyone around him.
All of this is just me trying to be fair, because I truly enjoyed this book. I think this is the kind of story that can make you cry every few chapters, and that’s the magic of it. It’s not about this being the best book; it’s about the journey. It’s about all the love you’ve developed throughout everything that happened. It’s about a final war, about sacrifice, friendship, and people who simply want a better world.
I will miss this story dearly, and I know I’ll keep thinking about it for a long time. It truly left a mark on my heart.
